There is no doubt that members of the sports media love, adore, focus their mancrush on Brett Favre. He is really the closest thing there is to an icon left in the NFL. Brett Favre is to the sports world what Paris Hilton is to the tabloids. Even when you think the story is over, another one is just beginning. Everyone knew the end of his career would come, but accepting it would be the hardest part, for all concerned. For the last few seasons, there has been a pre-season death watch that left reporters on a daily basis asking "Will he come back or won' t he?" After a last year's great season, it appears the Packers organization didn't want to go through that drama again. They asked Brett to make a decision back in March. The plan was certainly aimed at getting Favre to commit to off-season mini-camp and work toward winning a Super Bowl. That was not a commitment Favre wanted to make. Well, its time to start preparing for pre-season and guess who is back? Its the football verson of A.I.'s rant about "practice." Its game time and now Brett wants in. He retired because he couldn't make the commitment to practice. Brett wanted no part of spring drills...so now that spring drills are over, he thinks he can just inviite himself back to the game. I am surprised to see the Packers playing hardball with him, but you really can't blame them. Aaron Rodgers commited himself and went to spring drills. He did the time. He prepared and the team feels like he is ready to play. So Brett...what is this exactly? He says he doesn't have the commitment to do the work, but now that its time to suit up, he wants the glory and the spotlight. I hope Brett comes back...as a backup. Thats what happens to guys that bail out on their teammates. If you want to be the starter, you are going to have to beat Rodgers to get it. If you REALLY want to play that badly Brett, those are the rules. So, is it about the love of the game, or is it about getting all the glory? Which is it, Brett?

Brett Favre....Drama QueenYou are correct, the Packers asked Brett to make a decision back in March. They FORCED him to make it. He stated on Fox news that at the time it was the right one. IN MARCH his heart wasn"t really into playing. He could have lied to them and said -- WAIT- I"m not sure. Why is it that a man can"t change his mind? Why the big rush? It's not like they don"t know that Aaron Rodgers has never started a game in his life. They tell Favre that they want to protect his legacy. WHAT? By bringing him back as a backup to Rodgers? Brett should tell the Packers to go to **** . As far as I'm concerned they have lost a fan. I have been a Packer fan since 1967. I can see Vince rolling over in his grave right now. This is a local team--- It is owned by the stockholders of the city---- Thompson and the bonehead they have for a head coach ought to think twice about treating Favre this way. In the near future -- IT MIGHT COME BACK TO HAUNT THEM. I thought I would never say this but I am thinking about switching teams. I have never been one to jump on the bandwagon--so to speak-- But the Packers have forced my hand. BRING BACK BRETT OR ELSE!!!!! |

Brett Favre....Drama QueenThese are my thoughts on the whole situation. I like Brett Favre. I think he is an all-time great NFL quarterback. Personally I think he should stay retired (to help reserve his reputation and NOT tarnish it). With that said, because I don't know the facts, if Brett didn't want to continue playing for the Packers he should have started that ball rolling after the season ended. If he wanted to miss spring training, again, tell the team that before hand, not afterwards. It is a team sport so be mindful of your teamates when you make a decision. People are allowed to change their minds and Brett is certainly entitled to change his. It is his life, not ours to judge or decide. He said he wants to play, now lets see what happens between he and the Packers organization. Let the chips fall where they may. Either cut him or make him work for the starting position. It is time to "shit or get off the pot." Those are my 2 cents.
